Merry Christmas!

It's a beautiful Christmas Day here in Wisconsin. The ham is in the oven, gifts are waiting to be opened, and we are feasting on breakfast goodies as I write.

Our family was one of several home schooling families featured today in the Wisconsin State Journal in an article on Keeping Christ in Christmas by Doug Erickson. We have been doing many things this month to celebrate the Christmas season. Such as Singing in the State Capitol,  caroling for shut-ins, and contributing to different Christmas Charities. You can click here to read the Wisconsin State Journal article.

Part of our Christmas Story has to do with an illness our son had at a very young age. That year we had no money, no Christmas tree, or special Christmas food. Our son had been hospitalized since Thanksgiving, and had had multiple surgeries. Our doctor allowed us to bring him home for Christmas Eve, with the understanding that we had to return to the hospital the afternoon of Christmas Day. She even made a house call to administer an IV so we could stay at home for 24 hours. We arrived home from the hospital, and hanging on the front door was a plastic grocery bag. It contained two small wrapped gifts, one for each of our two small children.

They were anonymous gifts from a member of our church family. The packages contained two small plastic cars. That's all they were. Most families probably would have given them away or thrown them out. But we will never forget it. They were the only gifts our children got that year. It's amazing how some things effect you. They get under your skin, into your heart, absorbed into the depths of your being,  and never will be forgotten. This was one of those things. Sometimes, we get so caught up in our problems, we forget that there is always someone more needy than we are. Keep Christ in Christmas, don't ever forget. You could be that needy person some day.

Have an enjoyable day with your family.

Blessings,
Designer Mom
