I love tea just as much as I love coffee. My family doesn't necessarily drink either one. So why do you suppose I caught our two youngest children riding their bikes off to the library with cups of MY tea? We discovered a new brand recently, and it's completely fabulous. So much so, that the boys have suddenly become tea drinkers.
The tea of choice, is from The Tropical Tea Company. They sell a variety of bulk teas and accessories on their website. The best part is they are so affordable. Many of their teas sell for only $1.00 per ounce. Yup. Only one dollar. How can you beat that? Our favorites have been the Blue Mango Green Tea, Vanilla Chai, Ginger Peach, and Decaf Strawberry. It's hard to even choose, they all sound so yummy!
To make a pot of loose tea, I use only 2 or 3 teaspoons of the dry tea. It swells up considerably when wet and that amount is more than enough to make a whole pot. I also use the tea leaves at least twice, they are so flavorful. My tea pot has a little basket to put the tea leaves in. It is very handy.
I also use my little basket in a two quart jar to make sun tea which I then serve iced. My favorite is the Ginger Peach, it's amazing!
I just leave the jar out in the sun for a couple of hours and viola`...."sun tea". The tea has a deep mellow flavor from this slow brewing method. It also NEVER tastes bitter. I have read that if your tea is bitter, it's because the water was too hot when it was steeping. Boiling water can actually scald the tea leaves and give the tea a bitter taste. Who knew?
I ordered enough tea for several months and got free shipping with an order of $30.00 or more. You can find even more wonderful tea flavors on the Tropical Tea website at the link below:
