I have long been searching for a shampoo alternative. I have tried many organic brands, but not only are they expensive, they just don't seem to work very well. My hair dresser agrees with me. I had been searching for a DIY method, but most of them don't seem very practicle. They call for hard to find ingredients like soap wart or unscented shampoo base. I am just too impatient to search these things out and order them through the mail. Am I the only one who is impatient? Do you have a great DIY recipe for shampoo? I would love it if you shared it!
Recently I found this old fashioned all purpose soap at the organic market. This is Dr. Bonner's 18 purposes in 1 Hemp Tea Tree Pure-Castile Soap. I have seen this brand before but never was brave enough to try it. No more I tell you, this stuff is awesome!
I absolutely love it for shampoo! It has tons of suds, smells great, and leaves your hair as soft as it could possibly be! It also works great for shower gel and has tons of other uses. This is a concentrated liquid that is 3x as powerful as other soaps, so very little is needed. All ingredients are pure and organic, I love that they use only olive, coconut, hemp and palm oils. Their soap contains more than 3x the amount of coconut oil compared to other soaps. plus they do not filter out the glycerin (a common commercial practice) in their soap making process, resulting in a richer soap. Fascinating stuff... you can read more about it on their website Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap. They even sell it by the gallon on their website. Fabulous!
Did you notice my paper-white bulbs in the first photo? It is currently -10 degrees with the wind chill here in Wisconsin. I am pleased that my bulbs are flowering despite the ridiculously cold weather outside.
Dr. Bronner's Soap has lots of neat quotes on the back of the bottle, I thought I would share this one with you:
God has not promised skies always blue
Flower strewn pathways all our lives through!
God has not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain!
But God has promised strength for the day,
Rest for the laborer, light on the way!
Grace for the trial, help from above,
Undying sympathy, unfailing love!
