DIY Trash to Treasure Tables

Our town recently had a spring cleaning day where you can throw out anything you want and the city garbage will come and pick it up. I know that in other parts of the country they don't do this anymore, but here in Wisconsin, we still have days like this. It's a field day for antique lovers, junkers and especially bloggers.

Anything and everything is up for grabs on the curb.

I scored lots of great items. Among my favorites were some broken director's chairs. They are mis- matched heights. We removed the hinges that were broken and held the supports for the arms and backs of the chairs since they were broken as well. (Sorry, but in my excitement, I forgot to take photos of them. )

We also found some wooden Ikea bed slats in the trash, tons of them! They will come in handy for so many projects. My husband cut the bed slats to size and screwed them onto the top of the chair bottoms. Presto we had tables!

After a light sanding, I primed them with this Rust-oleum Primer. This is great stuff! I even liked the color grey.

I was going to paint them yellow, but now I can't decide. What do you think? Grey or yellow?

I love the way the look on our deck. You would never know they were trash.

I am enjoying my new tables while I have coffee and watch the birds on the deck in the mornings. I am inspired to make more trash project lists in my Inspirational Notebook. Still, I can't decide on the color. Yellow or grey for the tables?

Have a beautiful day!
I am sharing this post over at Home Talk today!

p.s. I am enjoying my new computer. It has only taken me 1 3/4 days to write this post. I think perhaps by the end of the week I will have this thing figured out! LOL!
