Dollar Store Simple Gifts for Less than $2.00

I have this thing for Christmas mugs. I just love them. They are so festive. Hot cocoa and spiced coffee taste so much better in a cute mug this time of year! With a little pizzazz, they make great gifts. You can purchase a festive mug at the Dollar Store for only $1.00. Here's what to do to make a great gift:

Buy a few cute mugs, I happened to have these on hand so I didn't have to purchase any.

At the Dollar Store I purchased some white tissue paper, decorative shred, and clear cellophane paper.

You can also pick up some individual packages of hot chocolate ( or coffee), some bags of chocolates or a full size candy bar, mints, and a box of candy canes from the Dollar Store. They have the best deals on Christmas candy!

You can also use a couple of freshly baked cookies for this gift. The Dollar Store has those printed little cellophane loot bags that work great for packaging individual cookies. They look so cute all wrapped up!

The first thing I did was to stuff a piece of tissue down in the mug. It adds a little height to the display.

Fill your mug with goodies, be sure and put the taller ones in the back.

Add a few pieces of decorative shred for some holiday sparkle. You can trim the ends a bit with scissors if they are too long. Keep the candy cane off to the side, I like to center it over the mug handle.

Place your mug on the cellophane, cut a rectangle big enough to generously wrap around the sides of the mug, with about 2" so spare on either side, and leave 6-8 inches of cellophane above your candy to create a festive wrapping.

Scrunch the cellophane together, taping it securely.

Fold back the sides, enclosing the mug and candy, then tape the cellophane in place so it is not visible from the front.

Add a ribbon and your all set! These simple gifts are great for remembering all those extra people on your Christmas list: teachers, bus drivers, music teachers, hair dressers, manicurists, neighbors, postmen, scout troop leaders, Sunday school volunteers, Pastors etc. The best part is these are so inexpensive. It's the thought that counts!

Simple Gifts can have a BIG impact!
