31 Days of Cleansing: Day 13 DIY Dandruff Remedy

During the winter months, we sometimes get dry, flaky scalps. It's aggravated by our dry climate. We have tried a number of home remedies, but this one seems to work the best.

I picked up a few supplies from the store, including a bottle of Witch Hazel, rosemary and tea tree essential oil, and some cute little bottles from Hobby Lobby. I am into cute little bottles lately.

I used 1 cup of Witch Hazel and added a 3 drops Rosemary oil, and 2 drops Tea Tree Oil. I also added a drop of green food coloring to make it look more macho to my family. Then I filled the little plastic shampoo bottles with it.

I decided to label the bottles as Hair Tonic. It sounds better than Dandruff Remedy. We use a few drops at night and massage it into the scalp, then shampoo the next morning. It's worked great. I can now be seen in public with my family without being embarrassed. Life is good!

If you enjoy making your own spa products, I highly recommend this book that I found at the library. It's called The Home Spa by Sian Rees. It has many useful home recipes. Tomorrow we will talk about hand treatments!
