As hard as we have tried to remain healthy this month, the cold bug has finally gotten a hold of us. It's rotten to have a sore throat, but hopefully we can get rid of it with this simple homeopathic remedy.
You will need a pair of 100 percent cotton ankle socks (such as sweat socks), and a pair of longer calf length wool socks with the highest percent of wool you can find. The idea is that the wool socks will completely cover the cotton socks when you have them both on.
Wet the cotton socks with COLD water. I know this may seem odd, trust me on this.
Squeeze out as much of the water as you can.
Put the cold, wet cotton socks on first, then put the DRY wool socks over the top. This may seem like cruel and unusual punishment in the middle of the winter. This quirky method actually causes your immune system to kick into high gear. Sorry for the fuzzy photo, I didn't think that getting a good picture of my own feet would be so hard. Apparently, it is.
Wear the socks to bed over night. You will feel your feet begin to heat up in no time. The cotton socks will have magically dried overnight from the heat of your feet while you were sleeping. Your immune system will have been super charged, and you will be feeling considerably better after just one night. If you wear them for several nights in a row, you will be back to your old self again.
This method actually dates back to Colonial times when the early American settlers would wrap sick or infected body parts in strips of cold wet cloth, and then cover them with a layer of wool until they were healed. Fascinating stuff, American history. I wonder what other little tricks they knew?
Hope you are feeling better!
